Saab Press: Swedish Automobile Signs MoU

Swedish Automobile Signs MoU With Pang Da And Youngman For The Sale Of Saab Automobile And Saab GB

Trollhättan, Sweden: Swedish Automobile N.V. (Swan) announces that it entered into a memorandum of understanding with Pang Da and Youngman for the sale and purchase of 100% of the shares of Saab Automobile AB (Saab Automobile) and Saab Great Britain Ltd. (Saab GB) for a consideration of EUR 100 million.

Final agreement between the parties is subject to a definitive share purchase agreement between Swan, Pang Da and Youngman, which will contain certain conditions including the approval of the relevant authorities, Swan’s shareholders and certain other parties. The consideration of EUR 100 million will be paid in installments. An important consideration for Swan to enter into the transaction is the commitment of Pang Da and Youngman to provide long term funding to Saab Automobile.

The administrator in Saab Automobile’s voluntary reorganization, Mr. Guy Lofalk, has withdrawn his application to exit reorganization. The MOU is valid until November 15 of this year, provided Saab Automobile stays in reorganization.

Saab Press: Update on Saab Automobile

Zeewolde, The Netherlands, 26 July 2011 – Swedish Automobile N.V. (Swan) announces that Saab Automobile AB (Saab Automobile) has delayed payment of the wages to its white-collar employees as some of the funds that were committed by investors were not paid in time to effect such salary payments.  Saab Automobile is taking all necessary actions to collect these funds and continues discussions with various parties to obtain additional short-term funding so that the payments can be made.

Swan will update the market of any new developments.

Zeewolde, The Netherlands, 22 July 2011 - Swedish Automobile N.V. confirms that Saab Automobile Tools AB reached agreement on payment terms with the supplier that filed for bankruptcy, thereby resolving the issue.

Saab Press: Saab Automobile Update on Production

Zeewolde, The Netherlands - Swedish Automobile N.V. (Swan)  announces that Saab Automobile AB (Saab Automobile) continues discussions with its supplier base on material supply and delivery terms in order to be able to resume production at its Trollhättan plant. Swan and Saab Automobile continue their discussions with parties to obtain further short-term funding to be able to restart and sustain production. As delivery of all parts needed to secure a production start is not yet agreed production will not resume on August 9 as intended and will be postponed until a full commitment on delivery plans can be secured.

Gunnar Brunius, Vice President of Production and Purchasing said: "I am positive about the progress we made on the payment terms with our suppliers and it is good to see that we all want to make it work. What we need now is a full commitment on supply of parts into our factory to be able to restart production and secure a stable manufacturing operation. We are now working hard with our suppliers to nail down these plans, commit to a delivery schedule and start building the close to 11,000 cars that we currently have in our order books. The industry-wide summer break at our suppliers caused certain key suppliers not to be able to supply us in time. Saab Automobile hopes to restart production earliest in week 35 provided that it is able to commit to a delivery schedule with its suppliers."

Saab Press: Saab 9-4X Crossover Arrives in the US

Royal Oak, MI – Saab’s all-new 9-4X crossover has landed in US dealer showrooms.  The greatly anticipated vehicle is Saab’s newest addition to the Saab product family.  Currently, over 100 orders have been placed for the vehicle.

“Our first vehicles are just hitting retailers and our first customer sale took place last weekend at Saab North Olmstead in Cleveland, Ohio,” said Tim Colbeck, President and COO SCNA.  “This is an exciting product, with a true Saab crossover that gives us entry into a new segment.”

Saab’s first 9-4X sale went to Martin Reuben of Ohio.  “Before even driving it off the lot, I put my butt into the seat, looked around and bought it on the spot,” replied Martin.  “So far everything I’ve discovered on this car is pure Saab – purposeful & well designed.”

Trollhättan, Sweden - Saab Automobile today officially launched a new social media initiative called Inside Saab. Taking corporate blogging and the company’s use of social media to the next level, Inside Saab is an interactive weblog where Saab enthusiasts will be kept up-to-date about what is going on at Saab Automobile.

Inside Saab will provide the latest news, background, technical developments, stories on Saab events and activities, insights and much, much more. Readers will also be encouraged to provide their own content and share the blog’s content with others.

The new outlet will be run by Steven Wade, who recently joined Saab Automobile’s social media team after years of writing about Saab on his weblogs Trollhättan Saab and Saabs United. Wade will now apply the experience he gained in engaging with the Saab community to his activities at Inside Saab.

“With Inside Saab, I want to bring people closer to the brand,” says Wade. “The opportunity to write for Saab is an enthusiast’s dream and I look forward to sharing the Saab experience with readers around the world.”

Saab Press: Jan-Åke Jonsson Retires as President and CEO

Jan-Åke Jonsson at the 2010 Saab Owners Convention Trollhättan, Sweden: Saab Automobile today announced that Jan Åke Jonsson has decided to retire from his position as President and CEO of Saab Automobile AB ("Saab Automobile") effective per Spyker Cars N.V.’s Annual General Shareholders meeting to be held on 19 May, 2011.

A search for a successor to Jan Åke Jonsson has been initiated and he has agreed to assist Saab Automobile’s Management with a smooth transition to his successor. He will remain available as such until 1 September, 2011. Until a successor to Jan Åke Jonsson is appointed, Victor Muller will temporarily assume the role of President and CEO of Saab Automobile AB in addition to his role as Chairman of the Board.

Jan Åke Jonsson says: “I have been with Saab Automobile for almost my entire career of 40 years, of which almost six years as the head of Saab Automobile. The last three years have of course been very demanding and forced me to focus on one thing only – my work. Now it is time for me to also spend some time on other things that had to stand back for my duties to Saab Automobile.

ROYAL OAK, MI – Saab Cars North America has debuted a social media effort within Facebook designed to tap into the passion and enthusiasm that Saab fans and owners, present and past, feel for the brand.

Through Saab’s Facebook page, fans can write and star in their own Saab web banners using a template that mirrors the look and feel of “The Story of Saab” online and print creative, post to their Facebook wall and share with friends. Saab will choose a selection of the consumer-generated banners to run on an array of websites that could include AOL, MSN, the websites of The New York Times and Wired, among others, in late March.

The first of its kind social media program is an extension of “The Story of Saab,” a multi-media, multi-faceted national advertising campaign, which debuted in the U.S. in late January. 

“Saab has an incredibly loyal owner and fan base. Over the past year we have heard from fans all over the world and they are so passionate about the cars they love. Who better to tell the Story of Saab than the people who make it what it is,” said Nicole Jankowski, Saab Cars North America’s Marketing Communications Manager.

Purchased by entrepreneur Victor Muller, CEO Spyker Cars N.V. in 2010, Saab is working to regain its place as an independent and viable automaker in the minds of potential consumers in the U.S.

“Saab fans are a very devoted and passionate group,” said Jennifer Swantek, Vice President, Account Director, McCann Worldgroup Team Saab.  “As we were working to relaunch the brand, we knew it would be important to find ways to leverage Saab’s loyal fan base. People want to share their passion for the Saab brand.  They just needed an outlet. Now, through Facebook, we can give our enthusiasts that voice.”

 “The Story of Saab” was created by McCann Worldgroup Detroit’s Team Saab for the U.S. market.  Team Saab also has the responsibility of creating the global launch campaign for the company’s next product, the 9-4X. Team Saab also partnered with iWerk, a Royal Oak, Michigan based software development company, to create the Facebook technology.
