Saab Owners Convention Track Event FAQ

On the Wednesday prior to Saab Owners Convention, The Autobahn Country Club has opened its doors to the SOC Track Day Attendees! Take your Saab on the South Circuit for an adventure of 15 turns in 2.1 miles.  Separated into three groups, everyone will have the chance to test their skills multiple times in both the morning and the afternoon. In addition, all registrants will also receive a buffet lunch while you are there!

Optional Event in the Afternoon:

Karting Experience will consist of two on-track races on their custom karting track. The Autobahn CC will provide the helmet, and kart. You provide the driving skill. An additional fee of $30 applies.

Agenda:

7:00am – Depart from The Hilton at Oak Brook

8:00am – Arrival and Building Tours

8:30am – On Track Paced Touring Laps

9:00am- Lap Sessions Begins

12:00pm – Lunch at the Autobahn Pavilion

1:00pm – Group Photo

2:00pm – Session 2 Begins

5:00pm – Return to The Hilton Oak Brook

FAQ:

  • What do I get for the base fee of $249.00?
    • A full day of racing and a buffet lunch.
  • Do I need to register in advance, or can I show up and pay?
    • This event is a part of Saab Owners Convention and must be purchased prior to the event at saabconvention.com. However, if space permits, there may be an opportunity to purchase the optional event (Karting) on the day of the event.
  • How old do I need to be to attend?
    • Drivers and passengers in helmeted sessions must be 18+. Kart track participants must be 14+. Minors participating in kart racing must be accompanied by a completed MINOR WAIVER, see attached.
  • How old do I need to be to participate in the Karting Challenge?
    • You must be 14 years of age or older.  Kart track participants must be 14+. Minors participating in kart racing must be accompanied by a completed MINOR WAIVER, see attached.
  • Are convertibles permitted for the track events?
    • Convertibles are only permitted in Novice sessions.
  •  I am a driver, will I be required to present my driver’s license and car insurance?
    • A driver’s license is required. However, you will not need to bring your insurance certificate.
  • Do I need to wear traditional track attire? (i.e., helmet, long sleeves, and long pants?)
    • Helmets are required. Long sleeves and long pants are encouraged. See specifications

    • Snell Foundation with Snell sticker SA2015 or later.
      SFI with an SFI sticker 31.1 FIA standard 8860-2015 or later

  • If I want to rent a helmet for the event, will they be available?
    • Yes, for a cost of $20 cash you can rent a helmet.  We have a limited number of helmets to rent.
  • Will gasoline be available onsite?
    • Gasoline is available for purchase using a credit card or smart phone. Octanes range from 93 to 103 at the pump and 110 in 5 gallon cans.
  • What is on the menu for lunch?
    • The buffet will include the following:
      • Bourbon-Glazed Chicken breast and Hickory Smoked Pulled Pork
      • Fresh Vegetables, AuGratin Potatoes
      • Caesar and Tossed Antipasto Salads, Rolls, and Cookies
      • Assorted Drinks
  • What happens if it rains on the day of the event?
    • We run rain or shine, but will temporarily pause track activity in the event of lightning.
  • Can I bring my own drone and record my car on the track?
    • One drone is allowed, the operator must provide an FAA license and Certificate of Insurance in advance. We’ll connect them with our Ops Team the day of the event to review Autobahn safety rules.
