I first got interested in Saabs in 2004 when shopping for a car for my oldest daughter. She is very petite and didn’t “fit” in most cars we looked at, except for two: a Chevy Impala (really! Super adjustable seats) and a 1999 Saab 9-3. She likes the weird and different stuff, so of course we bought the Saab. Saab was still in business, so finding someone to fix it wasn’t even a consideration at the time. I do most of my own repairs anyway, so it was just a learning curve for me. I grew to love the cars and decided I needed one for myself. Well, that turned into two, then three…. At one point I had five in the driveway (is there anyone out there that wouldn’t jump on a $500 Saab that just “needs a little work”?). I learned what an “Aero” was and the five turned into one nice OG 9-5 Aero 5-speed. Then I drove a two-stroke at the Sturgis convention and had to have one of those. A fellow club member was happy to make that happen. The two-stroke is in a thousand pieces in my shop while I’m now looking for a manual Aero OG9-5 wagon or maybe a friction tester. Or a C900. It’s a disease and there is no cure.
