President’s Letter

Dear SCNA Members,
In early November, some SCNA board members gathered just outside Chicago in Oak Brook, IL at the site of our upcoming Saab Owners Convention. This summer will be the 40th time that SCNA has organized a gathering of Saab owners, family and friends. I would like to send a special thank you to Ian Cudny, President of the Chicago Saab Owners Club, who helped so many of the visiting board members by picking us up from the airport and showing us some of the best food and entertainment establishments around this great city. Details about this summer’s SOC, taking place on July 19-23, 2023 can be found throughout this issue and on our website at saabconvention.com.
Our meeting in Illinois was not only to discuss the next convention but to map out the future of the Club, as well as this magazine. The Saab Club of North America currently has open seats on our Board of Directors, and I and some other of the Executive board members are facing term limits as directed by our by-laws. Just a few years ago we had a competitive election, we now again have a few vacancies. I am appealing to those who might be interested in serving to please email the club at info@saabclub.com and we can talk more about the details of serving on our board. We are so excited by the new look and format of 9s magazine, and we want to make sure we have the proper organizational structure to continue to be a source for all things Saab, not only in the US but around the world.
Are there any SCNA members who understand and enjoy using WordPress? More importantly, are you interested in putting your skills to work on behalf of SCNA? WordPress is the platform we use for our website, registration site and on-line store. We are actively looking for someone who might be able to offer us support in this area. If you are interested in helping out with the SCNA website, reach out to us at info@saabclub.com and I will put you in touch with our webmaster.
At the close of our day-long meeting, we were greeted by Ian and some other members of the Chicago Saab Owners Club, who presented ideas for some special events that they would like to organize in order to assure that those attending are able to see and experience the best of the Chicagoland area. Get your car race-track and showfield ready and we will see you at SOC 2023!
