President’s Letter
by Michelle Baxter
Hello fellow SAABers!
I just got back from SAABs@Carlisle and what a wonderful weekend of Saabs it
was! The official Saab count was 256, and Central Penn Saab Club did a fantastic
job of creating a memorable event. If you haven’t made it to their annual event
yet, I highly suggest you mark your calendars for May 16-17, 2025. I’m already
making plans to be there next year.
Speaking of events, the month of June and July have so many across the country
that you may not be aware of:
- Volvo and Swedes at the Gilmore Car Museum in Michigan
- Scandinavian Midsummer Festival in Colorado
- Endless Mountain Vintage Saab Jamboree in New York
- Saabs n Food in New York
- Saab Owners Convention in Oregon
And there are even more events we’re not aware of. We see so many of these
events posted in different places, and if you are anything like me, I tend to forget
until right before the event. And then I miss it again, swearing I will make it next
year. I see this as a problem we would like to solve. Your SCNA Board members
have been working diligently to come up with a solution. Our answer is a
calendar on SCNA’s website. Anyone can turn in a Saab-related event on the form
provided. This will go on our calendar, which should help those of us who want
to attend Saab events anywhere in the country have the opportunity to find the
list in one central location! We hope to see your event listed in the future!
This year we’re focusing on bringing national support for all our local clubs. Our
kickoff event will be the convention this year, located in Portland, Oregon. We
have several fun events and activities planned for attendees. A few events are
for bragging rights, such a competition to rebuild a transmission, rebuilding
a 96, and driving the Maryhill Loops Road. Other events are aimed at helping
local clubs: such as building memberships, hosting or sponsoring events, and
navigating through the change in clubs across the country. We plan on shaking
up a lot of the things that SCNA focuses on, and I hope you guys will help along
the way!
As Always, Keep on SAABin!
