President's Letter

We are trying to schedule bus tours of Boston area historic sites on Wednesday and Thursday, August 20 and 21, 2008 as an extra-added attraction for SOC08. The tours will be from the SpringHill Suites, Devens, MA. Our hope is that families who travel to SOC08 can take an extra day and see some of our national historic venues. We will know more soon and will post information on the club website (www.saabclub.com) and on the SOC website (www.saabconvention.org).

A Happy Saab New Year to one and all!

There is good news from the restructuring New England Saab Association. According to Seth Hedstrom, they had a meeting on November 17th and had about 24 folks show up to meet and greet those who are interested in keeping the club and its activities going. SOC08 was a major discussion item as NESA will be participating in this year's SOC activities. Seth and Johnny DelRosario gave the group a thumbnail sketch of what is needed for the support and planning of SOC activities. They have yet to decide specifically what event or events they will be doing but their ideas sound promising. We look forward to working with the group and hope to help them achieve their goals.

President's Letter

Great news, we decided at the SCNA Annual Meeting that the Saab Owners’ Convention for 2008 will be held August 21st-24th at the Devens Common Center, Devens, Massachusetts. We have asked local Saab clubs in the North East to participate in the running of SOC activities and thus far have a couple who plan to do so. Our goal is to have the SCNA do the planning, financial backing and operation of the SOC with support from local clubs. The headquarters facility will be the Marriott SpringHill Suites Devens Common Center Hotel.

This issue of Nines will be going to press just as we are getting ready to drive to Troy, MI for SOC07. I hope everyone had a great time and met some new Saab friends. The SCNA thanks the Great Lakes Saab Club members and others who volunteered to set up and run the endeavor. We especially want to thank the sponsors and special guests for their much-appreciated contributions to this year's SOC.

President's Letter

As I mentioned in the last issue of Nines, local Saab clubs are the lifeblood of our activity. The best witness to that was the Saabs @ Carlisle 2007 put on by the Central Penn Saab Club. Ron Nichipor, CPSC president and all club members who worked on and participated in this year's event should be proud of their accomplishments which included beating out Volvo for having the highest number of cars in attendance at the Cars at Carlisle, Import, Kit/Replicar Nationals. Saab Automobile USA was there with bells on as they brought the entire Saab Heritage Collection thanks to Jan-Willem Vester and Steve Shannon the new General Manager. Linnea Krajewski, the SCNA Secretary was there soaking up all things Saab and thoroughly enjoyed the event.
