Greetings, SCNA Members!
Like many of you who enjoy driving your Saabs in all sorts of winter weather, I spent the last few weeks getting my cars ready for winter. For my Classic 900, that means storing the car and keeping the battery charged up while it awaits the sunny spring days. For my 9-3 Aero, getting ready for winter means preparing the best wheels and tires for winter driving. Last year, I picked up a set of 17” Gary Fisher rims to use as my dedicated winter wheels. With a set of good snow tires, a front wheel drive Saab has been sufficient for just about anything New England can throw my way. There was that one unforgettable winter I spent with a Turbo X and 4 Blizzak tires, but that story is for another letter.
While we have been preparing our Saabs for winter, the SCNA board members have been busily planning the next few summer Saab Owners' Conventions. I hope you have had a chance to complete the member survey that you should have received via email. The Saab Museum in Trollhättan recently announced that throughout 2016 it will celebrate the 30th anniversary of the famous Long Run Challenge at the Talladega Speedway in Alabama. I urge you to look up the videos related to this event, and to another challenge done in 1996. SCNA will join the Saab Museum in celebrating these endurance milestones at SOC 2016. Readers of Nines most likely already know about SOC 16 August 4-7 at the Marriott Evergreen Resort in Stone Mountain, GA. We have some exciting speakers and a range of events and activities in the works to make this a memorable SOC. Be on the lookout for more information about the next few SOCs both in Nines and on our web site.
As always, I welcome your feedback and comments. Please email me at
